I love that song.  Especially after doing Beth Moore's Believing God Bible study in which we gain an appreciation for when "God remembers"  (such as in Genesis 8:1 when He remembered Noah on the ark and He caused the waters to recede).  And then she proposed that that is key for us too-- when we remember God's faithfulness, we should be prompted to act.  I definitely can't explain all that Mrs. Moore showed us in the study, but here's a shameless plug encouraging you to do Believing God.  It'll change your life!

So, tying this in to my first week at PIMA Medical Institute.  The first day was really hard on me-- not so much that it was the first day of school, but being suddenly thrown into a tiny, basement room where it seemed everyone around me was talking about their sex lives.  It was not so much that it was anything I hadn't heard before as much as the attitude and flippancy with which they shared it-- and the most shocking part was that nearly all of these people were complete strangers to each other. 

Needless to say, this disturbed me quite a bit, and I went home trying to figure out how I would get through six weeks of having these topics come up everyday.  So I prayed, asking the Lord to help me be a light to my classmates but not allow my mind to "go to the gutter," so to speak. 

And, friends, what happens next still boggles my mind!  God is so good!  The very next day, I had the opportunity to share with my new tablemate that 1) I go to church, 2) work with the preschooler at my church, and 3) have a Bible study in my home.  And then, since we were supposed to introduce our tablemates, the other students got to hear that I work at church! 

No, it wasn't sharing the Gospel with the whole class, but I was given an opportunity to let my light shine.  And that this was an answer to my prayer just the day before is amazing!

So, after the first couple days of getting the feel of the course and classmate dynamics, I started feeling alot better about the next six weeks.  Yes, I am still "in the world" and will come in contact with people doing things that are against what God wants them to do, but He has already proven He is there with me and will equip me to do the work I need to do.  (As He has over and over before!)

Well, my friends, that turned into more of a philosphical post than I had originally intended, but that's about all I have to say other than to encourage you in the situations you will find yourself in this week.  God has already been there and will not allow you to be tested beyond what you are able.

First Impressions

Hello and welcome to my blog! 

Let me warn you right off that these posts will contain experiences from my random and awesome life.  Between my jobs at my dad's company and the church preschool, entering the Veterinary Technology program at a local school, my tempermental writing muse, and my "unique" family, there will be a plethora of stories.... 

I decided today to start this blog primarily to record my time training to become a veterinary technician, but, as I was thinking about it more, it will also be a place for contemplating and relating the things I learn in my day to day life. 

So, I think that is a good first blog.  Short, but hopefully enough that you will come back and check it out again sometime.
